The 2025 Labor Day was marked by nationwide protests under the "Workers Over Billionaires" banner, reflecting evolving labor concerns in the United States. This is part of a bigger movement seen across the United States uplifting at many human rights movements  Organized by the AFL-CIO and other allied groups like One Fair Wage, over 1,000 demonstrations occurred across all 50 states, highlighting demands for higher wages, protected social safety nets, and resistance to corporate influence.

In Oklahoma, one speaker spoke about the strategies that should be used saying "...we will braid love into our communities". A sentiment that received cheers by the protesters gathered at Oklahoma Cities capital building.

These protests come as Americans continue to see raising prices  while minimum wage continues to stay at $7.25. Even higher state wages often fall short of local living wages. Speakers nationwide highlighted rising living costs, job instability, and erosion of union rights, with federal job cuts and weakened bargaining power altering workers’ trajectories.

In Chicago, rallies targeted threats of federal National Guard deployments, with Mayor Brandon Johnson vowing to resist, citing continued community safety concerns over militarization.

These protests underscore a transformative moment where labor advocacy increasingly intersects with issues of equity, federal overreach, and economic survival.
